One text, every morning.

The answer comes first, before you're properly awake. And if we can't reach the hotline, you get told that too — in time to call it yourself.

Which describes your hotline?

Reading the thread

Tue & Wed
An ordinary day. Your color wasn't on the recording, so you're clear. We list what was called so you can check our work.
Thu
You have to test. This is the one that must be unmissable, so it says so in the first three words.
Fri
The line was busy, or the recording was garbled. We retried, still couldn't be certain, so we say so plainly and hand you the number. We never guess.

The small print, in plain words

You opt in by entering your own number and ticking a box — see the exact form. About one message a day, plus the occasional alert like Friday's. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them and pause your daily checks, START to turn them back on, HELP for help, or STATUS to hear today's result again. Questions: hello@calledornot.com.

Your first few days

A new line, or a new ID, starts with up to 4 setup days. You still get the answer, with a reminder to check it yourself until we've confirmed we're reading your line right.

Days 1 to 4
You get what the line said, which setup day it is, and the line's number. On these days, please call it yourself too. It takes a minute, and it's how you'd catch us if we had something wrong.
Wed & Thu
Two tests in a row happens. Programs often call you back the next day on purpose. It doesn't change anything here.
Sat, and every day after
Setup is done, so it's just the answer.
Finishing sooner
Some lines read your name back when we call, like "Does your last name begin with H-I-L?". We show you that on your dashboard after your first call. Tell us it's you, and setup can finish early.

What's a "color"?

Most testing programs sort people into groups and give each group a color or a number — you might be Blue, or Group 4. Each morning the county records a new message listing which groups have to come in that day, and it's on you to call, key in your PIN, and listen for yours. Miss it, or mishear it, and you've missed a test.

Some programs skip the roster entirely: you key in your PIN and the recording answers you directly — "you are required to test today." Called or Not handles both. Tell us which hotline you're on during setup, and we'll only ask for a color if your hotline actually uses one.

Sample messages. Colors, dates and the hotlines shown are made up. Called or Not is an automated aid and is not affiliated with any court or testing program — you remain responsible for your own compliance.
